Our Philosophy
The Saint Thomas school staff, in cooperation with the parents who are the primary educators of their children, have organized a total curriculum as follows:
- To develop the students’ understanding of and loyalty to the teachings and heritage of the Roman Catholic faith, help them to acquire Catholic moral and spiritual values, and provide them with opportunities for prayer and worship.
- To foster our students’ understanding of human knowledge and culture, encourage their powers to reason independently, solve problems, be creative and to accept responsibility for self-evaluation and continued self-instruction as they prepare for high school and beyond.
- To help our students develop socially and acquire a sense of responsibility for their home, school, parish, community and country.

Faith
Our commitment to spiritual growth is based on Gospel values that touch each dimension of school life at St. Thomas of Villanova. Through religious curriculum in all grades, sacrament preparation, daily prayer, regular celebration of school mass, and prayer services prepared and presented by the students, each day provides, by living example, the message of Christ.
Family
One of the hallmarks of St. Thomas of Villanova is the close working relationship enjoyed by teachers, students and parents. Parental volunteerism and participation in student activities, our dedicated faculty with a low student/teacher ratio, the Family School Association, the School Board and the Athletic Department all help in creating a strong family atmosphere at our school.
Scholarship
We offer education programs that instill the essential skills to prepare students for an ever-changing world, while stimulating them to be life-long learners. Students at St. Thomas of Villanova consistently achieve high scores on standardized reading, math and science assessments. Area high school entrance exam scores and honor rolls reflect our graduates’ solid academic preparation.
Integrated Curriculum
Students develop confidence and gain life skills in an environment of teamwork, decision making, critical thinking and integration of all academic subjects. These efforts are supported by a strong infrastructure of technology, the arts, social studies and language arts. The preschool and kindergarten programs focus on social and academic skills in an effort to develop enthusiastic learners. The junior high faculty provide a classroom format that prepares students to move into any high school setting.
Athletics
Interscholastic sports, along with a physical education program, stress physical fitness, health and nutrition, and sportsmanship while developing individual skills and team dynamics. Students are encouraged to participate and set individual and team goals. St. Thomas of Villanova adheres to a “no cut” policy for all athletic teams. Our new, state-of-the-art Activity Center provides a gymnasium for physical education classes and school sporting events.
Community
St. Thomas of Villanova School is a key ministry of the greater St. Thomas of Villanova parish community. Students participate in such service projects as a school supply drive for our sharing school and Christmas adopt-a-family. Students fulfill service commitments tailored to their interests and the needs of the community. This solid foundation of values inspires students to “reach beyond” our local borders.
Teamwork and Leadership
Students develop teamwork and leadership skills in the classroom through group projects and presentations, academic mentoring, Student Council, and other activities that create relationships across grade levels. These activities enhance confidence and foster personal growth while focusing on individual accountability to a team. The emphasis is on faith, discipline and values that help the student build character and develop good work habits that carry into adulthood.
